Hi !

Do you tense up while at the dentist? Clench your fists or hold your breath in order to be alert and fight the pain? This automatic fight/flight response is not very effective, as it will instead increase the very pain and discomfort we desperately try to avoid. When we're engaged in something - if we concentrate, if we are worried, if we have a slumped posture, our breath will follow as it is a direct reflection of our thoughts, emotions and physical body.

In my talk on the Emotional Mastery Made Easy conference March 1-14 I will discuss how we can use Conscious Breathing to take control of our stress response. I hope to see you there :) More info >>

Please feel free to join our Facebook group, where you can ask questions and share experiences about breathing.

 Emotional Mastery Made Easy

Global emotional cleanse initiative by 20+ thought leaders & experts seeking to impact your life

I'm happy to announce that I'm one of the speakers on the Emotional Mastery Made Easy conference March 1-14. There will be two speakers per day, each speaker talking for one hour. Directly after the talks there will be a FAQ-session where you will be able to ask any questions you might have.

Our breath is a direct reflection of our thoughts, our emotions, and our physical body.

When “Crying It Out” Doesn’t Work

When “Crying It Out” Doesn’t Work

This is a very important book written by the late Mary Kathleen Fay, M.D. As a pediatrician Dr Fay was not very succesful in helping parents with their "difficult childen", but when her own son turned out as a "difficult child" she started to look beyond her own training and found a close relationship between poor breathing, poor sleep, and behavioural problems.

How we are breathing is extremly important in order to get the quality sleep we need. Mouth breathing at rest means overbreathing, which deprives our body of oxygen and carbon dioxide, which in turn can give rise to both tiredness and hyperactivity.

-Through breathing, MANY people experience huge potential for improvement. Simply watch a news broadcast and note how many newsreaders and meteorologists loudly draw in the air high up in their chests between every second sentence. Breathing this way triggers the body’s fight and flight system, the stress levels rise, and the voice quality deteriorates.

And nothing is more revealing when it comes to how we actually feel than the sound of our voices! Most people probably recognize themselves in comments such as: “You seem happier now, I can tell by your voice.” “You are nervous, I can hear.” “Are you angry? You sound angry.” “I can hear you are under pressure.” “Do you have a cold? You sound clogged.” And so on… You sound like you feel. Because of that, breathe better, feel better and communicate better.

Here is an interview dr John Douillard, DC, CAP did with me. When I started to dwelve into the world of breathing more than 10 years ago, one of the first books I read was his book "Body, Mind, and Sport: The Mind-Body Guide to Lifelong Health, Fitness, and Your Personal Best". In the book dr Douillard talked a lot about the positive effects of nasal breathing during exercise, which inspired me a lot.

Dr John Douillard is the author of seven health books. He is a former NBA nutritionist and creator of LifeSpa.com, a leading wellness resource with thousands of free articles, resources and videos, nine million+ YouTube views and over 130k newsletter subscribers.

Alexandra Kolam, 42, is a Personal Trainer, Massage Therapist, Conscious Breathing Instructor and former elite Crossfit athlete.

    - For the last eight months I’ve consistently been nasal breathing only during workouts, and I’m thrilled about the effect! With nasal breathing I get a carbon dioxide boost, which delays the lactate explosion in my muscles. I was able to push really hard without feeling strained, and afterwards it was as if I had not done any real work, even though my exertion level was probably about 85% for 60 minutes.

I love the feeling of being completely recovered after a hard workout, as I do with nasal breathing. Not at all drained and exhausted.
